Hi, I am Chef Nate.  I am a qualified Chef, and cooking is my passion! I would love to share that passion and the love of good food with you.

Here at Nate the Great, we prepare home-cooked meals.  We are not a restaurant or a takeaway. We prepare and cook delicious food from all kinds of recipes, from the tried and trusted recipes, handed down in my family, to the new recipes and methods of cooking.  We have fun preparing and cooking delicious food.

My signature chicken korma recipe is derived from classic ingredients and spices from my Cape Malay heritage, with chicken marinated in a homemade korma paste, then cooked quickly and simmered with cream. Tantalisingly spicy and big on flavour. Extremley more-ish!

About Chef Nate

I’ve been cooking for as long as I can remember.

When I cook, I feel good. And when I feel good, the food is good. There’s something special about homecooked food. And the best part is, I’m not the only one who thinks so. Takeout that isn’t like other takeout. It’s like home.

Baking is fun. I’m not sure what I enjoy more. Baking with chocolate, or devouring it when it’s ready. Many who have experienced and tasted my work find themselves instantly in love with what they’ve just tasted.

So, I guess you could say cooking is in my blood.  I come from a long line of chefs, so when I matriculated in 2016, I enrolled immediately at The International Hotel School,  and completed my Chef studies in 2017, graduating with a Diploma in Culinary Arts.

During my practical studies, I was privileged to be part of a select team that worked at the 2017 Good Food & Wine Show, held at the ICC in Cape Town.

After graduating from IHS, I secured a position as Comis Chef at the Country Club Johannesburg, Woodmead, and worked there until October 2020.

With the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on the hospitality industry, I was unfortunately retrenched, and have decided to start my own personal chef business – Nate the Great.

I look forward to sharing my love of good food and good cooking with you.
